It helps organizations identify and manage privacy risks, and is mandatory when processing is likely to pose a high risk to the rights and freedoms of individuals. This applies, for example, in cases of large-scale processing of sensitive data, systematic monitoring, or the use of innovative technologies such as AI.

How does the process look like if I choose a specialist from The Privacy Cooperation?
Define context and scope
We begin by mapping out the processing activities: what is the purpose, which personal data are being processed, and who are the involved parties? We also assess the legal basis and the source of the data.
Analyze data flows
A description of the data flow is created, including access, storage, retention period, and the technologies used. We take into account the Governmental DPIA model and the specific interests and stakeholders involved.
Identify risks
We analyze the categories of personal data, the recipients (such as processors or sub-processors), and potential transfers to third countries. At the same time, we assess the technical and organizational measures in place.
Assess proportionality and subsidiarity
We examine whether the processing is necessary and proportional to the purpose, and explore possible alternatives to minimize the impact on data subjects.
Data Protection Officer (DPO) advice
The DPIA is provided with advice from the DPO. If necessary, we incorporate this advice into the report, including any changes or follow-up recommendations.
Determination and implementation
After approval from the manager, an action plan is created to implement the recommendations. We apply the PDCA cycle (Plan-Do-Check-Act) to monitor, evaluate, and improve the implementation as needed. This ensures that your organization continuously meets privacy requirements, even after our involvement ends!

Ik ben er niet zeker van of privacy goed is belegd binnen mijn organisatie. Hoe kan mijn organisatie voor het BC 5701 certificaat in aanmerking komen?
Het volwassenheidsniveau op het gebied van privacy kan worden bepaald aan de hand van een model dat het Centrum voor Informatiebeveiliging en Privacy (CIP) heeft opgesteld. Certificering tegen BC 5701 is mogelijk vanaf CIP volwassenheidsniveau 3.
Betekent het verkrijgen van het BC 5701 certificaat dat mijn organisatie als geheel als privacy compliant kan worden beschouwd?
Het BC 5701 certificaat kan worden afgegeven ten aanzien van één zelfstandige verwerking van persoonsgegevens (= het object van certificering). Van de verwerking die voor certificering in aanmerking komt worden alle vertakkingen binnen en buiten uw organisatie beoordeeld. Omdat verwerkingen binnen een organisatie alleen compliant kunnen zijn als een bepaalde systematiek aanwezig is (processen en procedures om privacy goed toe te passen binnen verwerkingen) levert certificering van één verwerking een beeld op rond compliance binnen uw organisatie.
Hoeveel tijd neemt het hele proces (van het vaststellen van het volwassenheidsniveau tot en met certificering door Brand Compliance) in beslag?
Een meting van het volwassenheidsniveau met een passend plan van aanpak om tot certificering te komen is normaal gesproken binnen twee maanden klaar. Hoeveel tijd het gaat kosten om uw organisatie op het juiste niveau te brengen is op voorhand lastig aan te geven. Dat hangt af van grootte van de organisatie, nationale of internationale vertakkingen, en (helaas) ook de beschikbaarheid van geschikte privacy- en informatiebeveiligingsspecialisten.
